Capoeira Volta Ao Mundo - Fall Batizado 2012 - CapoKids Troca de Corda Part 1
Shot on a GoPro Hero2 camera
This is Mestre Amunka D’Avila who immigrated here from Guatemala. He is the Mestre of Capoeira Yokayo in Ukiah California and a percussionist for the band Pura Vida Mendocino. It is part of United Capoeira Association under Mestre Acordeon in Berkeley California.
If you train with UCA or been to one of their batizados and had the pleasure of meeting this man, then you know how amazing and inspirational he is.
More personal to me, he is the person responsible for sponsoring my Mestre, Mestre Rony Costa, to come to the United States. Mestre Amunka gave him a place to live, introduced him to Cheri, who is now his wife with two beautiful daughters and helped him achieve his lifelong dream of starting his own group, which is now Capoeira Volta Ao Mundo in Sarasota Florida.
And since Mestre Rony is truly like a father to me and is my son’s Godfather, I owe so much to Mestre Amunka for what he has done for my Mestre.
Mestre Amunka is now very sick with cancer. He has been going through very invasive procedures to the point where he has opted to treat it with more alternative methods that are not always covered by his insurance. In any regard, the crippling costs of this sickness have put a tremendous financial strain on him and his family.
I have created and donated a website to help raise money to offset these costs. Please click the picture above or here to learn more about this awesome individual and, if you are able to, please use the DONATE button on the site to help out, even if it only a dollar or two.
If you cannot donate, we completely understand, but hope that you can pass this along and spread the word and provide the opportunity for others to help out.
Muito obrigado e muito axé…
Thank you so much and many blessings…

Meet Antonio Tenorio. He’s a judoka from Brasil.
He’s the first person ever to win 4 Gold Medals in a row in Judo (1996, 2000, 2004, 2008).
He’s looking to get a 5th one in London at the 2012 Paralympic Games.
And he’s blind.

Campaign: Valorize o Brasil!!!
The “Brazil” and “Brazilians” tags on Tumblr are full of porn and butts and it makes us sad and offended to see this misrepresentation of our country!
Even if you are not Brazilian, you can help us out:
- Making posts about Brazil or Brazilians you like, and tag them with #Brazil, #Brazilians, #Brasil or #Brasileiros
- Reporting porn blogs posting without a NSFW filter in those tags
Please help us clean up the tags. The Brazilian community on Tumblr thanks you!

I can’t even begin to describe how much of an inspiration Anderson Silva is.
Last night, he defended his title for the 10th straight time and won.
But he didn’t just win for himself and his family.
He didn’t just win for his sponsors.
He didn’t just win for his fans.
He fought and won for a country, entire cultures of people.
He won for Brasil.
He won for Capoeiristas and martial artists.
He won for mestiços… for the cafuzo, mulatto and the caboclo.
He fought and won for the oppressed.
You don’t want to go up against a man like that.
Anderson Silva is the greatest champion of our time.
